Google now indexes flash content

Search Engine giant Google moves ahead of its competitors. According to the official Google Blog , Google search engine robots (Googlebot) can easily index flash files.

Before, it was very difficult to index flash based website or other flash elements like flash intros, flash banners in a website .

To know about how Google works check this link http://sandytechzone.blogspot.com/2009/05/how-google-search-works.html

Although, the demand of flash websites increased in modern times but only a handful of them could reach the target audience. Web designers made beautiful flash web designs but that did not help in inviting the website traffic. Wonderful flash works were not search engine friendly. Hence, the flash website were usually ranked low in the search engines.

Problem in the past:

Search engine robots usually found the flash designs too much complicated. The flash files could not be indexed properly like simple files. The search engine robots could only index the names of the files. It failed to index the content embedded in the flash works.

Various techniques were employed in order to optimize flash websites and other flash elements. This included Off Page optimization, use of keywords in the right place, use of Macromedia Software Developer and use of proper tags.

Google improves its technology:

Google has taken a big step by updating its technology, which has enhanced its indexing power. Now, the search engine robots can index the content embedded in flash files without difficulty.

It has initiated a new Flash-indexing algorithm of its own. Google has used Adobe’s Flash Player technology and increased its performance. Web designers can now build wonderful flash websites.

How it works?

The technology of flash reader of Adobe has enabled the search engines to effectively read Flash files, extract text and links. It has enhanced Google to index content in SWF files. Now, Google is able to get the textual content in websites that appears to the web visitors.

The new algorithm helps to read flash files like a human. It works in the same method as human being acts like clicking buttons and so on.

The search robots index textual content in flash files and words that become visible in flash files. It also tries to find out URLs that appears in flash files.

However, it must be observed that the search engine king is presently noticing and indexing textual content only.

Present Limitations

No doubt, the new technology has largely improved the workings of the search engine king yet there are certain limitations. There are mainly three drawbacks, which are mentioned below:

  1. In certain cases, Google robots fail to index some kinds of JavaScript. In case, the flash file of a web page is loaded using those JavaScript then it will not be indexed.
  2. Google search robots cannot index bi-directional languages like Arabic and Hebrew languages as the text is written in a form i.e., right-to-left (RTL).
  3. Suppose, a flash file loads different files like HTML file, SWF file etc. The search robots will index all the files separately and never be regarded as a part of the textual content of the site.
  4. Google search robots are unable to index text embedded in the images in the flash files.

It is indeed a big step in the web arena. Now more and more websites can hope to reach the audience through good ranking in the search engine. Google is already working to make things more search engine friendly and enhance the process to rank websites in a better way.

Even if the days are bad, they always have Rs. 40000 in their bank account, a few thousand rupees in investment companies, a flat in Virar and 2 houses and a plot of land in Solapur.

Few facts about beggars in India

* Average daily income of beggars in metros is Rs 80.

* Most earn more than daily wage earners.
* Graduate and postgraduate beggars are increasing.

* 14 per cent beggars have no expectation from the government.

In most of the foreign countries like in US and UK beggars perform musical performance, comedy, dance etc they entertain the passers along the street to make an earning. People who perform in public places for tips are known as Buskers or street performers. Buskers may do acrobatics, animal tricks, balloon twisting, card tricks, clowning, comedy, contortions & escapes, dance, fire eating, fortune-telling, juggling, magic, mime and a mime variation where the artist performs as a living statue, musical performance, puppeteering, snake charming, storytelling or recite poetry or prose as a bard, street art (sketching and painting, etc.), street theatre, sword swallowing, or even present a flea circus. People busk for a variety of reasons: for money, for fun, for the attention they get, to meet people and socialize, for the love of their art, to practice their skills, or try out new material in front of an audience.

The man in the above picture is David Johnson, also known as the World Famous Bushman, is a busker who has been entertaining passers-by along Fishersman's Wharf in San Francisco since 1980. In the beginning he tried dressing as a robot but he found that there were too many others doing the same thing. Currently Johnson hides motionless behind some eucalyptus branches and waits for unsuspecting people to wander by. When they approach, he jumps out and startles them. Crowds gather to watch him work, often including those he has previously scared.

Johnson claims to earn $60,000 and also employs a bodyguard to protect him against attacks by the unamused, to distract his targets, and to alert him to the approach of elderly people so he can avoid scaring them.

White People Stole my car

One of the most searched terms on Google on 25 August 2009 is “White people stole my car” and that is because of a mistake. When you Google for the term “White people stole my car”, Google suggests you to search “Black people stole my car”, which is both funny and some say that Google is racist by its suggestions.

Actually there's a popular email being passed around saying that Google is racist with a picture showing a Google search for "white people stole my car." Underneath, it shows "Did you mean: "black people stole my car." The joke, you see, is that Google would replace the term "black" for "white."

India stepping ahead with the launch of Bhuvan

ISRO has launched Google Earth like application called Bhuvan. Bhuvan means Earth in Sanskrit, using bhuvan one can see any part of India except few sensitive locations like military and nuclear installations. The 3D mapping tool uses images taken a year ago by ISRO's seven remote sensing satellites, including Cartosat-1 and Cartosat-2. The satellites can even capture the images of objects as small as a car on a road. Bhuvan displays satellite images of varying resolution of India's surface, allowing users to visually see things like cities and important places of interest looking perpendicularly down or at an oblique angle, with different perspectives and can navigate through 3D viewing environment.

Hyderabad based National Remote Sensing Agency (NRSA), which is a part of ISRO, had a lead role in designing and developing 'Bhuvan'.

Requirements to run Bhuvan:
(1) First you need to register, after registration you have to download the Bhuvan plug-in to access the site.

(2) Direct X 9 is required for installing the plug-in.
